Privacy Policy

Mileon ("the App") is a drive tracking app for iOS. Your privacy matters, and the App has been designed to keep your data on your device and under your control.

Data We Collect

The App collects and stores the following data locally on your device:

• Location data – GPS coordinates recorded during drives, used to calculate distance and map your trips. In Tesla mode the App does not use your iPhone's location; drive coordinates come from your vehicle via Tessie instead (see below).
• Address information – Street names, house numbers, and city names derived from reverse geocoding your start and end coordinates. This is processed on-device by Apple's MapKit framework.
• Drive metadata – Start time, end time, distance, and whether a drive is marked as work-related.
• Work routes – Saved start/end coordinates used to automatically classify future drives as work-related.
• Preferences – Your chosen settings such as distance thresholds, display options, and the driving mode (CarPlay or Tesla).
• Tessie access token and vehicle – If you choose Tesla mode, the Tessie access token you paste is stored in the iOS Keychain on your device, together with the VIN and name of the vehicle you select and, if you enter one, the Tesla driver profile name used to filter drives.

How Your Data Is Stored

All data is stored exclusively on your device using Apple's Core Data framework with file-level encryption. The App has no server of its own and never transmits your data to us. The only network communication is the optional Tessie integration described below.

Third-Party Services

The App does not include any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking frameworks. Apple's App Store is used for processing in-app purchases; Apple's standard purchase receipts are handled by StoreKit on your device.

Tesla Mode and Tessie

Tesla vehicles do not support CarPlay, so the App offers an optional Tesla mode that imports finished drives from Tessie, a third-party Tesla data service you subscribe to separately. Tesla mode is only active if you choose it and connect your own Tessie account.

• What is sent – Your Tessie access token (as an authorization header) and the VIN of the vehicle you selected, together with the time of the last sync so only new drives are requested and, if you entered one, your driver profile name.
• What is received – The list of your vehicles, and for the selected vehicle the start and end times, coordinates, addresses, and distance of each finished drive. This is stored on your device like any other drive.
• When – When you open the App, when you refresh manually, and periodically in the background if iOS permits.
• Who receives it – Only Tessie's servers (api.tessie.com). Tessie's handling of your vehicle data is governed by Tessie's privacy policy. The App never sends your Tessie data to us or to anyone else.
• Disconnecting – You can disconnect at any time in Settings. This removes the token and vehicle from your device. Drives already imported remain until you delete them. You can also revoke the token in your Tessie developer settings.

Data Sharing

The App does not share your data with anyone. When you use the CSV export feature, the exported file is created locally and shared only through the system share sheet that you control.

Location Permissions

In CarPlay mode the App requests location access to record your drives. Tesla mode does not require location access. You can choose between "While Using the App" or "Always" permission. "Always" access enables background drive tracking. You can change or revoke location permissions at any time in iOS Settings.

Data Retention and Deletion

Your data remains on your device until you delete it within the App or uninstall the App. Uninstalling removes all associated data, including any stored Tessie token.

Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 16 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your Rights Under GDPR

Since all data is stored locally on your device and never transmitted to us, you have full control over your data at all times. Data you retrieve from Tessie is subject to your agreement with Tessie. You can view, export, or delete your data directly within the App.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy is updated, the revised version will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
