Common Questions

What do I need to use Vantage?

An iPhone running iOS 17 or later and data in the Apple Health app. Most of the metrics Vantage scores come from an Apple Watch, so a paired Watch worn regularly, including at night, gives the most complete picture. Blood pressure, blood glucose, and body composition come from other connected devices if you have them.

How is biological age calculated?

Vantage reads 28 sleep, activity, heart, and body metrics from Health and compares each one to reference ranges for your age and sex. Each metric is converted into a mortality-hazard estimate relative to your peers, the estimates are combined by physiological domain, and the result is turned into a number of years above or below your chronological age. Tap any number in the app for an explanation of exactly what went into it.

Is this medical advice?

No. Biological age, readiness, and anomaly alerts are wellness estimates from consumer wearable data. They are not a clinical measurement or a diagnosis. If you are concerned about your health, talk to a healthcare professional.

Why is my data confidence low?

Confidence reflects how many metrics have recent data and how many days of history each one has. Wearing your Watch more consistently, including during sleep, raises it for most metrics. Some metrics need extra hardware, such as a blood pressure cuff or a smart scale; the confidence sheet in the app lists which is which.

Why does my biological age change from day to day?

Small daily movement is normal because the inputs, such as sleep and heart rate variability, vary from day to day. The pace of aging and trend views look at the longer-term direction, which is the more meaningful signal. Readiness is the place to look for day-to-day changes.

What are anomaly alerts?

Vantage compares metrics such as resting heart rate and wrist temperature to your own rolling baseline. If one stays unusually far off for two consecutive days, the app shows a calm banner and can send a quiet notification. The usual causes are benign, such as a poor night's sleep, alcohol, travel, or a cold coming on. You can turn notifications off in iOS Settings.

Where is my data stored?

Everything is calculated and stored on your iPhone. Vantage has no server and no network access, and nothing is sent to us. See our Privacy Policy for details.

How do I change what Vantage can read?

Open the Health app, go to Sharing → Apps → Vantage, and switch individual data types on or off. Vantage works with whatever you allow.

How do I delete my data?

Uninstalling the app removes everything it has stored. Your Health data is not affected.
